    Why a Baby

    Posted on Dec 4, 2023 7:03:03 AM

    Read:

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Galatians 4:4-5 “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.”

    Think:

C.S. Lewis said, “The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”

Jesus, God's Son, was born in Bethlehem, coming to Earth as a baby. This event is the most crucial in human history. A just God requires punishment for sin. Jesus lived a perfect life to please God, so when he sacrificed himself on the cross he was taking on the punishment for all our sin. Only Jesus, being perfect, could save us from guilt. On the cross, he exchanged our sins for his perfect goodness.

Jesus was fully God. But he also needed to be fully human because God required the shedding of blood for forgiveness. Animal blood hinted at this need but couldn't permanently remove sin. Jesus, the flawless Lamb of God, used his human life and blood to cover the sins of everyone who believes in him. Without being fully human, he couldn't have done this.

    Apply:

Jesus paid the price for all your sin on the cross. If you haven't accepted his free gift of salvation, you can do so today! Admit that you are a sinner. Believe that he died and rose again for you. Choose to surrender your life to him today.

    Pray:

Jesus, thank you for giving up the glory and splendor of heaven to come to earth. Thank you for your sacrifice on the cross for my sins and paying the price so I could spend eternity in heaven with you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
