Think
We are constantly bombarded with news of the next big thing. We’re told that certain products are sure to make life better or make us happier. Perhaps some help alleviate certain symptoms or ease life to a small degree, but as we face significant life events such as marriage or a huge career move, additional pressure compounds and tough days seem to roll in endlessly. We look up and sigh as we think, “I’m just not happy.”
But is that really our goal as believers? To be happy? Will it truly satisfy our souls? No, it won’t; it can’t be a steady constant in our lives because it’s circumstantial. Ultimately, if we chase pleasure — although great momentarily — we’ll emerge still feeling empty, lacking in what only Christ can offer.
Happiness will never fully satisfy- chasing it is an empty pursuit that leads nowhere. But if you’re leaning into Christ and seeking to be holy like Him, your objective isn’t to be more like the world, but to be set apart as you shine Christ’s light within it!
God commands and commends holy living. As we seek it, we discover what we were always looking for — true contentment and eternal joy!
