Proverbs 14:12,
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death." John 10:10,
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Think
What if on your child's sixth birthday you pulled him or her aside and said, "You're smart, you behave most of the time, and you've got pretty good natural instincts. I think you're ready to start taking care of yourself. Feel free to call if you get into any major trouble. Otherwise, I'll see you around-oh, and don't forget to floss." Preposterous, right? Because what seems right to a six-year-old is a diet full of sugar, no bedtime, and playtime 24/7. Obviously, they need structure, supervision, and rules to live by. The same is true for our lives as well. We need structure, supervision, and rules that are given to us by God. Yet too often we see God as some cosmic killjoy who's always trying to rain on our parade. But nothing is further from the truth. The Bible doesn't say, "Jesus came so we could exist to be dull," but rather "to have life, and have it to the full." God has given us certain guidelines and restrictions in His Word for our protection and provision. Like any loving and responsible parent, He wants to see us thrive and enjoy life! Today, open your heart and trust God's guidance in every area of your life. Lean on the wisdom and strength of Christ and ask him to reveal to you the full life that he has for you. And allow Him to speak truth into your life and be willing to obey no matter what. Because His way works!
Act
Are you trying to live life according to your own rules? If so, how's it working for you, really? Recognize the reality that God's way is always the best; He has provided you with the best route to take. To begin understanding that route, read 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.
Pray
Father God, I need You! I want to do life Your way. Help me to not be selfish, prideful or arrogant as I seek to grow more like You every day and in every way. Thank You for always having my best interest at heart. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
