Read:
Matthew 2:11, “They saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell to the ground and worshipped him.”
Philippians 2:10, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth…”
Think:
Have you ever lost your composure over a newborn? One who had done nothing yet? Probably not. You may even consider their response to not be very manly or very wise. But these men had traveled a long and arduous journey and chose to fall at the feet of Jesus – a small, seemingly insignificant child.
These influential, noble men sacrificed time, money and comfort to seek Jesus. What a scene. They dropped gold, frankincense, and myrrh all over that dirt floor and just honored the King of Kings. So much joy and awe. What is keeping us from worshipping that way? Why don’t we prize Jesus in that manner? Are we going through the motions of Christmas rather absent-mindedly and not stopping to worship the King?
Act:
Stop the distractions and take ten minutes today to worship God – reading, praying, listening to music – you choose!
Pray:
God, help me to see Christmas with fresh eyes. Thank You for the gift of Your Son and the opportunity to worship you this season! Amen.
