What Would Jesus Say to Joe Biden – God is the Chief

Read: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Think: Can you imagine what it would be like to be one of the most powerful leaders on the earth? Can you imagine the weight of responsibility you would carry and the desire you would have to be in control? Our desire for control can be all-consuming, and the more we try to satisfy it, the more it seems to demand from us. It can seep into every aspect of our lives – from our jobs to our relationships to our faith. It's a constant struggle to maintain balance and perspective, but we can take comfort in the knowledge that God is in control of all things.

The Bible teaches us that every event, person, and thing in the entire universe is overseen by God. The theological term for this is “sovereignty.” Essentially, when we say that God is sovereign, we mean that nothing happens without his allowing it to happen. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, especially when we encounter situations that seem unjust or unfair. But if we trust in God's sovereignty, we can find peace even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

As human beings, we often struggle to understand the bigger picture. We get caught up in our own desires, fears, and anxieties, and we lose sight of the fact that God's plan is greater than our own. When we relinquish control and trust in his plan, we can find freedom and joy in the midst of difficult circumstances. We can take comfort in the fact that we serve a God who is in control, and who is working all things together for our good. We can trust that his plan is perfect, even if we don't always understand it.

Apply: Relax and trust in his plan. When you feel worry or anxiety start to creep in – along with a desire to grasp control – pray.

Pray: God, I trust you. You are good. Give me grace and mercy to accept your decisions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
