What Jesus Would Say to Donald Trump – Be Kind

    Posted on Apr 21, 2023 12:00:00 AM

    Read:

Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

    Think:

Notice the word clothe. The Greek word literally means "put on." What Paul is saying here is that when we wake up in the morning, we should get dressed spiritually and emotionally, as well as physically. We should not only decide what to wear, but also ask ourselves, "How will I act toward others today?"

Kindness doesn’t always come easily. Kindness is learned. When we submit our lives to God's plan and passionately pursue our mission to bring him glory, he will take our small acts of kindness and multiply them in ways we cannot imagine.

Kindness is also a choice; it’s not just based on feeling. When we actively choose to be kind to others, we are reflecting the love of Christ and showing others the same grace and compassion that God has shown us. As followers of Christ, we are called to love and serve others, and kindness is a tangible way to put that love into action. When we choose to be kind, we not only bless others but also bring glory to God. The poet, Robert Burns, said that a kind heart most resembles God. We should be kind simply because God is kind to us. Let us make a conscious effort every day to put on kindness and show the world the beauty of Christ's love.

    Apply:

Hold the door for someone. Smile at someone. It may be small, but every act of kindness extends the love of Jesus.

    Pray:

Jesus, you are always kind and gracious. I surrender my own agenda to you today and ask that you show me someone who needs a little extra kindness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
