    What Do You Trust?

    Posted on May 22, 2023 9:52:45 AM

    Read:

John 17:17 “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”

Psalm 12:6 “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.”

    Think:

C.S. Lewis once said, "You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you." This statement holds true in many aspects of life, including situations where a pacemaker becomes the only hope for survival. The realization that this small device can save a life is an immovable and unavoidable truth that cannot be denied. It is in moments like these that we realize that the truth is important. It can be the linchpin between life and death.

During times of turmoil and uncertainty, we all crave stability and something unchanging to hold on to. The Bible serves as the only sure and unchanging source of truth that we can rely on. In our generation, we often avoid discussing topics such as personal behavior, morals, politics, and religion by dismissing them as subjective truths. As a result, this hunger for something trustworthy and valuable to believe in remains unfulfilled.

As a technologically-advanced and well-informed generation, we are exposed to many different viewpoints and answers to life's questions. Despite this, we still experience a sense of dissatisfaction that cannot be quenched. Fortunately, the Bible offers a solution to this quest for truth by providing a relationship with the Truth that is more than just a set of rules.

    Apply:

Find your truth today in God’s Word. Let him give you a firm foundation on which to stand.

    Pray:

Lord, we pray that our hearts would be focused on the central story of your Word. May this cause us to focus more on knowing you and bringing glory to your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
