Acts 9:1, "Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord's followers."
Acts 9:3-6, "As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?’ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ Saul asked. And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.’”
Think
We all know that one person we think would never give Jesus a chance. Saul was that person. He was famous, but for the worst of reasons: he was known for killing Christians.
In this story, Saul is heading to capture Christians and throw them into prison. What he doesn’t know is that he’s about to have an epic encounter with Jesus! This encounter completely changedhis life; he did a 180 and began to follow Jesus. The same man who was killing Christ-followers went on to begin sharing the good news of Jesus with people all over the world. His name was eventually changed to “Paul,” and God also used him to pen the majority of the New Testament.
What is so amazing about this story is not that Jesus COULD use a guy like Saul, but that He WOULD use a guy like Saul. God is bigger than our biggest mistakes, and He is willing and able to use anyone at any time. Everyone we have ever locked eyes with matters to God. Don't ever believe that someone is out of God's reach. And, don't think that your mistakes keep you from being used by God to reach out to others.
