Read:
Genesis 16:13 “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’"
1 Samuel 16:19 "Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, ‘Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.’"
Think:
Have you ever felt neglected, unseen, or invisible? Maybe you have felt lost in the middle of your own life. Busy, but not seen. You are active in all the activities, but you feel like you may not be necessary for the big picture.
We find this scenario with Hagar in Genesis 16: she was a handmaid, a slave girl. She did everything she was asked to do, but then she was tossed aside. When she found herself alone in the desert, God saw her and gave her a vision for her life.
David was doing the simple, mundane tasks that are a part of watching sheep. But God saw him and refined this future king in the fields of life.
It is precisely like what we deal with amid smelly laundry, snotty noses, unanswered emails, misplaced keys, endless bills, and horrific traffic. That is where training happens. You may feel like Hagar and David, but God spoke to them in the quietness, and He will speak to you. He is not unaware of your circumstances; He is with you! He has plans and a purpose for your life. And He promises to "never leave nor forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Act:
What could God be teaching you in this season of your life? Trust in His goodness and "cast your cares on Him."
Pray:
Dear Lord, thank You for seeing what I'm going through every day. Remind me of this truth in good times and bad. Help me experience Your goodness and Your glory in my life today. Amen.
