Luke 10:25-29,  "And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, ‘Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?' He said to him, ‘What is written in the Law? How do you read it?' And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.' And he said to him, ‘You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.' But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?'

Think

"Trust is a must!" Have you witnessed a conversation between two people where one of them thought they had a leg up on the other; but all of a sudden, the tables turned, and the first person was quickly exposed for how little they actually knew? The conversation in today's passage (which we will unpack over the course of this week) is just like that. The lawyer trusted in his own understanding of God's Word. But Jesus flipped the script! Jesus often found himself being challenged by the religious "elite" and the "experts" of the law in His day. They would present Him with situations in an attempt to trick Him, to make Him seem unsure, or to get others to doubt His knowledge and wisdom. But time and time again, Jesus, God in the flesh, proved that He was the One who is all-knowing. When we trust His knowledge, His wisdom, and His direction, we will find ourselves in the perfect position. Rather than trying to prove to Him how much  we know, we will find that what  He knows is the Truth that can transform us and give us a firm foundation.

Act

Let go of your pride when you have a situation you need direction and wisdom in. Instead, trust God's Word and God's wisdom. Lean on His understanding, even when (and maybe especially when) it goes against yours!

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that You are all-knowing. Help me to rely on Your knowledge and wisdom rather than my own, so that I can experience the everlasting life that You have in store for me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
