    Treasure Test

    Read

Matthew 6:19-21, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

    Think

"How's your heart?" Usually, we ask this in terms of someone's emotional or physical condition. Rarely do we consider it to be a financial question. But as today's scripture states, where we place our treasure is indicative of the condition of our heart. Everything we have comes from God. He asks only that we bring a portion, the first ten percent, back to his house, the church. Not only is it the most important investment we can ever make; it's an act of obedience, a step of faith. Therefore, taking a financial treasure test helps us to determine where our priorities lie as we discover the condition of our hearts. Now, is there anything wrong with obtaining "things" or making memories as we travel? No. Enjoying life is part of how God blesses us with what we have! But it's not the only purpose. In fact, it's not even the main purpose. We are blessed to be a blessing! Investing in God's house allows us to continue reaching lost people and transforming lives through Christ. What we give cannot be taken from us or destroyed but awaits us in heaven for all eternity. So, take a treasure test today, and ask yourself, "How's my heart?"

    Pray

Heavenly Father, thank you for everything you have given me – which is everything! I never want to take that for granted. Through my giving, I want to ensure that my treasure is measured in transformed lives. Open my heart and hands to give generously from what you've given me to be used for to your purposes. In Jesus's name, Amen!
