    Treasure

    Read

Luke 2:17-18, "When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart."

    Think

"The story of Christmas is the story of a lifetime!" For some people, Christmas resembles a Hallmark card. It's presents, decorations and family – all filled with joy and anticipation. But for others, Christmas is a time of worry and sorrow due to the loss of family members, the stress of the holidays or the unavoidable family dysfunction in their lives. Regardless of your Christmas experience, don't forget that Christmas is the story that changes everything. Those who heard the shepherds were "amazed" and Mary "treasured up all these things." To see their reactions of excitement and gratefulness that the Savior was born, should be a reminder to be grateful for what God has brought you through in your own life. You may not be where you planned or hoped to be, but thank God that he has you somewhere different than where you could have been. Look at this season with an overview perspective and ask yourself: "Are you amazed at what God has done? Do you treasure and ponder what God has brought you through?"

    Act

Slow down, and take a moment to write a Christmas card to God, thanking him for all he has done and all he has brought you through. Think back on how God has blessed you this past year. Like Mary, treasure what he's done, and like the shepherds, stand amazed at what you've seen.

    Pray

God, I thank you for your desire to always want to know my heart. This Christmas season may be hard for me and others, but I thank you for being by my side every step of the way. Continue to show me your goodness in this season! Amen.
