Colossians 3:15, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
Think
Over the next ten seconds, think about everything happening within your body. You may be keenly aware that your lungs are expanding, your eyes are blinking, and your heart is beating. But there are other areas you're unaware of – your endocrine, digestive, and nervous systems. When everything works together, you experience peace in knowing everything is in harmony.
The Bible tells us the church is made up of Christ-followers who, like parts of a body, are created to work together. Regardless of abilities, talents, race, gender, or age, we are called to be united in Christ, working toward a common goal.
We are not meant to be in constant conflict, but rather constant cooperation as we collectively reflect Jesus to others. When we peacefully operate within the body of Christ, the Church, we will experience a sense of supernatural and amazing peace in our hearts that only comes from God.
Act
Write down what you love to do. What comes naturally to you? Share with a leader in the church your desire to use your gifts within the church. Or, come to Newcomers, and we will help you find your fit!
Pray
God, thank You for giving me a specific role within the body. Help me discover how to maximize my potential as I serve others in the church. In Jesus' name, Amen.
