    Throne of Grace

    Read

Hebrews 4:15-16, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

    Think

Children like to prove how "big" they are by saying, "I can do this all by myself!" As we grow into adulthood, we are obviously able to do more than kids. But, even though our capabilities as adults increase exponentially, our need for help still remains. In our humanity, we simply aren't strong enough to navigate life's twists and turns alone.

Today's reading encourages us to say, "God, I need Your help!" So, let's take a closer look at three important components we need to remember when we face temptation:

Compassion: Whenever we are tempted to say, "No one understands," we need to add two words - "like Jesus." He was tempted in every way. He knows how we feel and reaches out to us with compassion.
Confidence: Whenever we feel the pull of temptation, we need God's strength. And because of Jesus' compassion, We can confidently approach God's "throne of grace" with our requests for help.
Comfort: We can rest in God's arms, knowing that He will provide the strength and comfort we need. His love never fails. His unstoppable power helps us overcome even the greatest of temptations.

Whatever you're struggling with, stop! With confidence, approach God's throne of grace, ask for help, and rely on His strength.

    Act

The pull of temptation can strike when we least expect it. The moment you feel tempted to disobey God, immediately approach His throne of grace with confidence and ask for His strength.

    Pray

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your compassion and comfort. I praise You for being such a personal God, for sending Jesus to overcome sin, and for giving me the confidence to approach Your mighty throne. In Jesus' name, Amen.
