The One Who Has It All

    Read

1 Chronicles 16:29, "Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness." Deuteronomy 16:17, "Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you."

    Think

As we approach the holiday season and begin thinking about what gifts to give others, there's always that one person who's impossible to shop for. They already seem to have everything they could ever want or need, but you still want to get them something to show your love and respect. So, what do you give to someone who has it all? Now, let's take it up a notch. The Bible tells us to give to the Lord the glory due His name. But if God is glory, which He is, then how do we give Him what He already has? Why are we told in this verse above to bring an offering, a portion of all that He's given us? As we come each Sunday bringing our monetary offerings, we don't bring our gifts to Him because He needs them, we bring them because it reminds us that all we are and hope to be is in Him. With that in mind, we don't see it as an obligation, but a blessed privilege. It's an expression of our love and appreciation to God as we glorify Him "in the splendor of holiness." And when we trust God with our finances, we will be richly blessed for it.

    Act

This coming Sunday bring an offering that is more than you are accustomed to giving. When the offering is received, take that moment to thank God for all that He has done in your life.

    Pray

Dear God, I know that You are my source for everything in life. Thank You for your abundant grace, mercy and never-ending love. Today, I give You the glory due Your name. Amen.
