    The Justice League

    Read

Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

    Think

"Doubt your doubts and feed your faith!" Can you imagine Superman doubting his ability to fly, or Wonder Woman questioning her strength? It seems unlikely. But if we could dive into the minds of these heroes, we would certainly uncover some doubt. After all, no one is always 100% sure of everything. In the New Testament book of Hebrews, the writer introduces us to what is essentially the "Justice League" of biblical characters – men and women who are revered for their robust faith. As the writer says, "This is what the ancients were commended for." Yet, these men and women were human, and humans naturally have doubts. What makes them stand out, however, is that they did not allow doubt to overtake their faith in God, even when most them never saw God's justice come in their lifetime. Regardless, God was their source of strength when they oftentimes felt powerless and they committed to trust him daily and follow him regardless of the outcome. When you have your bout with doubts don't allow those doubts to get you off track from being the person – the hero – that God has created you to be. Admit your doubts. Investigate them. And always doubt your doubts and feed your faith that God is in control and trust that his timing is perfect.

    Act

Everyone doubts. And it's okay. Remember, doubt and faith run on parallel tracks. Because without doubts, you have certainty. And with certainty, there is no faith. Right now, write out a list of your doubts. Don't shy away from them. Then, ask a trusted friend to pray for you as you work through your doubts so you can discover the life of faith, just like the Justice League!

    Pray

God, I admit to you that, at times, I have doubts. Help me to see those doubts for what they are and not to get caught up in them. Give me the strength to feed my faith and win the bout with doubt! In Jesus' name, Amen.
