John 3:3,
"Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.'" Luke 6:46-48,
"I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built."
Think
Under the cover of night, a man named Nicodemus came to see Jesus. Jesus gave him unexpected news. He said, "If you want to truly know God, you must be born again." Jesus went on to explain that true life starts with rebirth and a rebuild. It's easy to think that a storm will never come. We put the hard hat on, take our blueprints, and build our lives, our way. Then, tragically when the storm does come, the walls fall, and our life is left in ruins. Could it be that we need to reevaluate? Jesus is a masterful communicator. He gave us the illustration of a rock and a baby to teach us the most effective way to live: Baby - only Jesus can give you a rebirth through His death, burial, and resurrection. Rock - Christ is the foundation for your life which can never be destroyed and He will guide your rebuild. Next time you see a rock or a baby remember that only when you say goodbye to your old self and to your old ways of building can you truly live out God's best for your life!
Act
Saying goodbye to our former self and old ways is a process. Imagine burying them in your backyard or at a nearby park. That is not who you are any longer! The old is gone and it's time for the new to come!
Pray
Lord, help me stay committed to Your Word and to reading and digesting these daily devotionals that I may be reminded of who I really am and how much You love me. I declare to You that I want to build my life Your way! Amen.
