    Read

Proverbs 16:18, "First pride, then the crash - the bigger the ego, the harder the fall."

    Think

Today's verse talks about a five-letter word that God detests: PRIDE. Pride has been with us since the beginning of time, starting with Lucifer who, because of his pride, was kicked out of heaven along with a third of the angels. It's been the downfall of many biblical characters as well as countless others through the years. This verse is a warning that if a person jumps on the Ride of Pride, they will crash and burn. E.G.O stands for "Edging God Out" and when we leave God out of any equation, trouble lurks right around the corner. Save yourself a lot of pain by making sure God and his ways of wisdom are the primary focus of your every decision, every act, every thought process. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins and God knows that pride always brings about problems. God wants our lives to be full of joy and fulfillment. He knows that the Ride of Pride is a deadly disaster waiting to happen.

    Act

Analyze every area of your life and ask yourself if there is anything that you are doing or thinking that leaves God out of the picture. Is your ego edging God out? If the answer is "yes," do whatever it takes to make sure that you submit to God because the consequences will be catastrophic.

    Pray

God, please reveal any area in my life where I am letting pride win out. Show me where I have pushed you out of the equation. Forgive me and help me put you first, the guiding go-to in all that I undertake. In Jesus' name, Amen.
