    Redemption Shot

    Read

Romans 6:23,  "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Ephesians 1:7,  "God is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins."

    Think

"Christ did what had to be done, and what had to be done he did." Imagine a close friend coming to you for help. Maybe they messed around with the wrong crowd, maybe they have a bill coming up they can't make, maybe they're up to their ears in student loans. They come to you in a sticky situation with a debt they're unable to repay. What do you do? You'd likely do everything you could to help because you love them. That is exactly what Jesus has done for you and me; he paid a debt he did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay! We have all fallen short of God's standard of perfection and caused a debt to exist between us and God – a sin debt. But no matter how great our credit score is or how much money we have in the bank, there is no way we can ever pay what is due, because we'll never be perfect. So to bridge the gap caused by our sin, God sent his only son, Jesus, to pay for our sins. Jesus bridged the gap through his death and resurrection. Because of that, we are able have a relationship with God. That's the beauty of redemption. The debt is paid in full and we can now spend forever with our creator in perfect peace.

    Act

Is there a sin in your life you are keeping tucked away? Admit your sin to God, turn from it, and receive his forgiveness. Write a quick thank you card to God for his forgiveness. Give those things weighing you down to him and seal it up. And remember, God knows your sins and imperfections and loves you anyway.

    Pray

Lord, thank you for paying the debt of sin I could not pay and sacrificing yourself to bridge the gap between you and me. Remind me of that daily, and set my heart on the things you have in store for me so that I can share your love with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
