    Read

Exodus 2:2-3, "The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the riverbank."

    Think

Beyond any doubt, some of the most powerful, influential people on earth don't occupy an elected office, run industries, or even control Wall Street. Who are these influencers? They're the mothers of faith! Jochebed is a little known name in the Bible, but you certainly know her son's name – Moses. His leadership changed the destinies of Egypt, Pharaoh, and God's people. But first, his mother was his champion!

When Jochebed gave birth to Moses, the Bible states, "She saw he was a fine child." This also meant that in addition to being well-formed or beautiful, he was marked with a special purpose. As she looked adoringly at her son, she saw great potential, knowing that her child was a gift from God. How fitting that the name, Jochebed, means "Yahweh is her glory!"

Mothers really don't come with actual superpowers, but God does equip moms with the innate ability to see the gifts and potential their children bring to this world. A mother's love sees what no one else can - her love is an unrivaled force of nature. No other relationship can compare. Moms, you are Jochebed!

    Act

Set aside some time today to write or text your mother thanking her for all she's done for you. If your mother is deceased, take a moment to write down all the memorable qualities you remember about her and thank God for her influence in your life.

    Pray

Dear God, I thank You for my mother. She truly is a gift from You. Thank You for her love and influence that's made me who I am today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
