    Love Your Neighbor

    Read

Romans 13:8, “Owe nothing to anyone – except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.”

    Think

What are the different rules you have in your house? Maybe everyone has to clean up their own plate after dinner or take their shoes off before walking through the house. Rules help keep order by showing us the right path to walk.

God gave us the Bible, His guide to life, telling us the greatest path to walk is love. If we focus on loving others, many of God’s other commands will automatically be fulfilled. Think about the people you love. Would you want to steal from them or say false things about them? Would you like to hurt or betray them? Of course not! Because you love them, you are automatically, kind, compassionate, patient, forgiving – the list goes on!

God wants us to think that way with everyone we encounter. This does not mean you have to like or be best friends with everyone, but you can still show them love in how you talk to them and respond to them. If everyone treated each other with love, there would be less hurt and heartache in the world.

    Act

As you go about your day, ask yourself, “How can I show love to this person?” Then, go and do it! Make an effort to extend love to at least one person through an action you make today.

    Pray

God, thank You for loving me no matter what I do. Help me show love to the people around me and through my daily decisions. Amen.
