    Read

Matthew 6:25-26, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

    Think

From the empty shelves at grocery stores to massive school closures to the practice of social distancing, our culture is wary with worry - as if we weren't already even before the coronavirus scare! So, how timely is today's scripture! In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus vividly unpacks what it's like to live for His Kingdom. Understanding our penchant to worry - both then and now -  He instructs us not to and then gives us a good reason why! To help us succeed at trusting God more and worrying less, Jesus gives us an unusual action step - look at the birds! Yes, let's all be bird-watchers for just a moment! Observe: they do not plan meals, stock up on food, or have savings accounts,  yet every single day our Heavenly Father provides for each one! Here's the question He then gives us to ponder, "Are you not much more valuable than they?" The answer to that question is a resounding YES! God displayed how valuable we are to Him by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Let that GREAT reminder fill your heart and be your song today. God values you and He loves you. Stop worrying, learn from the bird, and live today!

    Pray

Father, Thank You for always providing for my needs and expressing how much You love and value me. You have always taken care of me and it gives me comfort to know that You always will. I'm so thankful that You met my greatest need - the forgiveness of my sins - by giving Your only Son, Jesus Christ. As I choose trust over worry, strengthen me so that I may shine Your light in the midst of darkness. In Jesus' name, Amen!
