    Lead Me

    Read

Psalm 139:24, "See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

John 10:27-28, "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand."

    Think

So often in today's culture, the mantra is: "Follow your heart." It sounds good, but if our heart isn't in the right place, if it's not beating fast for God, then it might lead us in the wrong direction! Because feelings-based decisions are really nothing more than a self-signed permission slip to do whatever we want – which could be outside of God's will.

God, in His infinite wisdom, knew that we'd all try to go our own way. He knew that without a Shepherd, we'd be lost and in danger. Therefore, He sent His Son to lead us in the way everlasting. And the Bible says that if we know Jesus, the Great Shepherd, personally, that we can discern His voice amid the chaos and clamor of today's world. He's always faithful to lead us, watch over us, and guide us in His path of righteousness. But it's up to us to follow!

The next time you feel like following your heart, think about where it might lead. Because it can take you farther than you want to go, to places you don't want to be, and cost you more than you want to pay. Instead, listen for your Shepherd's voice and follow His lead! While the path may not always be the easiest or most direct route, it is ultimately for your good and God's glory!

    Act

If you're about to take a big next step, seek God's guidance through reading Scripture and prayer. And, seek wise counsel to get a second opinion from a trusted source whose walk with God is evident in their life.

    Pray

Dear Lord, Thank You for always having my best interest at heart. I humble myself before You and seek to live within Your will. Lead me in the way everlasting and guide my steps to bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
