    Read:

Luke 18:15-16 “People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’”

    Think:

Do you recall the excitement you felt when you finally reached the height requirement for your first rollercoaster ride? It was a defining moment that marked your growth and progress. So much of our lives are defined by the "big enough," "old enough," and "mature enough" milestones.

During the time of the New Testament, children were not highly valued in society until they reached a certain age where they could contribute to their households and participate in adult activities at the synagogue. However, Jesus challenged these societal norms by embracing the impoverished, the diseased, and even children. In doing so, he elevated their worth in his kingdom and urged everyone to become like children themselves.

Let us adopt the childlike attitude and unwavering faith of children. May we approach life with eager anticipation and a humble reliance on our Savior, just as little kids do.

    Apply:

As you pray and speak to God, practice childlike faith by asking and believing expectantly. Children are persistent; pray persistently!

    Pray:

Heavenly Father, teach me to come to you as a child. Help me to be focused on you and aware of your greatness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
