Read:
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Think:
Have you ever ignored your GPS, convinced that you knew a better way? Have you ever purposefully gone the wrong way, maybe to snag a better parking spot or to take a shortcut, even if it meant disobeying a wrong-way sign?
Too often, we have the same attitude in our spiritual lives, thinking that our way is the best way. However, Scripture tells us that Jesus is the only way to the Father. We put our hope in all sorts of things, believing that they will somehow grant us abundant life. But there is only One who can bring us complete satisfaction.
Many of us acknowledge that Christ is the only way, but then we turn around and try to add to his perfect sacrifice. We want to fully surrender to Jesus because, deep down, we know that only he can save us. Yet, we still live as if we believe otherwise. We try to prove ourselves, we insist on living independently, we keep trying our own way.
Jesus is the only way and our only hope. When we try to navigate our own way to salvation, we become confused and lost. True peace and contentment are found when we lay down “our way” for “his way.” True peace comes when we acknowledge he is all we need.
Apply:
Say it out loud, “Jesus is all I need.” He is enough.
Pray:
Jesus, you are all I need. In a world that offers so many false promises and distractions, I cling to you as the only true way to life and salvation. I know that in you, I have everything I need – forgiveness for my sins, purpose for my days, and the promise of eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
