    IRL-In Real Life

    Read:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."

2 John 1:12 "I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face so that our joy may be complete."

    Think:

Most people have online friends, friends through their social media whom they may have never even met. They enjoy looking at each other's posts and pictures and engaging through online comments and direct messaging. They may share common interests and even think they would be great friends "in real life." But reality hits when crisis strikes.

It is in our darkest hours when we see the need for a true friend. We live in such a busy society and fast culture. We live distracted, and it is hard to unplug. But presence is required and intentionality is necessary. We lived in such a busy society and fast culture. We live distracted, and it is hard to unplug.True friendship is bonded in pain; it is forged through time. A good friend brings joy to life. A true friend can make a world of difference – and a difference in our world. Godly friends comfort us, encourage us, and keep us focused on Jesus.

    Act:

To have a friend, you must be a friend. Who is someone for whom you are grateful? Tell them how much you appreciate them. Who is someone with whom you would like to build a friendship? Make time to get to know them. If you need friends, consider joining a Bible study class or volunteering for a volunteer team.

    Pray:

Father, thank You for the friends You have given me. Help me to remember that I should be praying, worshiping, and seeking You alongside my friends. Help me to make time to be there for my friends. Amen.
