Read
1 Samuel 2:6-8,
"The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles, and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord's; on them he has set the world."
Think
Every time we handle a dollar bill we are reminded, "In God We Trust." But, sometimes, it's hard to trust what we don't understand. Have you ever wondered why God gives to certain people and takes away from others? Have you ever felt as if someone was getting a raw deal while someone else was getting more than they deserved? Throughout the Bible, we see God deliver and discipline through divine intervention. He is a judge and a giver of grace. At times, he steps in and other times he stands back. We may not
always understand why he does what he does, but nonetheless, we need to trust him –
always. Because of his infinite wisdom, we can take comfort in knowing that his plans never fail, and he sees far beyond our scope of understanding. And because of God's amazing love for us, we can trust that through it all he is working for our good. God is an all-knowing, all-powerful God who lovingly allows us to choose to follow him or walk the other way. Will you choose to trust him with the unknown today?
Act
Think about someone you know who seems undeserving of their unfortunate circumstances and someone else who seems undeservingly blessed. With them in mind, re-read today's passage and commit to trusting God regardless of what seems fair and what doesn't.
Pray
God, thank you for always having my best interest in mind. When doubt creeps in and I don't understand what's happening, remind me that you are always in control. Help me to grow in faith so that others see you in me! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
