2 Corinthians 12:9-10: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Think
Imagine a tightrope walker at a circus. They're perched high above the ground, the rope swaying beneath them. To the audience, it looks dangerous and wild. But the tightrope walker has a secret: they trust in their training and the tethered safety net below.
Surrendering to God is akin to that tightrope walker's trust. While the path ahead may seem daunting, daily choosing to trust God's guidance is akin to the tightrope walker's reliance on their training and safety measures.
Many of us struggle to let go and let God take the reins in our lives. Just like a person clutching the sides of a raft during turbulent waters, we desperately tighten our grip. But when we look back on past challenges, we often see it was during our weakest moments, when we let go of our control and allowed God to work, that we experienced his strength and power the most.
Apply
Today, consider an area where you're holding on tightly, afraid to let go and trust God. Visualize yourself opening your hands, releasing that concern, and taking a step of faith. Write down a step you can take this week to move toward surrender. Remember, in our sacrifice, we allow God's power to move mightily in our lives.
Pray
Father, I acknowledge my need for you. I desire to surrender every area of my life, yet I often hold back out of fear. Help me to truly let go, to trust you fully, and to experience your strength in my weakness. Teach me to take your hand and let you lead me daily. In Jesus' name. Amen.
