Psalm 34:4-5, "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." 
 

2 Corinthians 12:9, "But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." 
 

Think 

The enemy wants us to believe we’re the only ones on earth who need help. Too often, we feel isolated because we're unwilling to ask for help. And we don't ask for help because we're afraid that we'll have to relinquish control if we tell others. And God? Sure, we say we want Him to take the reins, but we keep a firm (often white-knuckle) grip on our secret, so we won't have to change. 

Fear drives our need for secrecy. We fear every possible outcome — rejection, exposure, failure. Instead of asking for help, we assume every negative "what-if." What if others think we're weak? What if they turn their backs on us? What if I can't do it?
 

But, here's a new "what if." What if we find acceptance, grace, unconditional love, and healing? And isn't asking for help the opposite of weakness? Think about it. What takes more courage: speaking out or staying silent? Being comfortable or making progress? 
 

When we admit our need for help, let go of our secrets, and allow God to work in that space, His power is perfected in our weakness. When we are weak, He is strong! So, ask for help! See yourself through the lens of Scripture. From that place of need, you'll find Jesus — who loves you just as you are! 
 

Act 

What do you fear most about giving up control? What lie is woven into that fear? Allow God to work by taking one small step to relinquish control. Consider opening up to a trusted confidant about what you're going through. 
 

Pray 

Dear Lord, I admit that I need help. In Your strength, I can overcome my fear of change. Give me the courage to seek wise counsel and see myself through Your Word's lens. I am accepted, covered by grace, and loved unconditionally, just as I am. In Jesus' name, Amen.
