    Good Father

    Read:

Matthew 10:29-31 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

    Think:

Scripture identifies God as our father 265 times. The word "father" can evoke various memories and images for different people. For some, it brings warm memories of laughter and fond recollections. For others, it may trigger feelings of rejection or absence. However, God is a good father. In Scripture, we see him embracing the prodigal son as well as the older brother (Luke 15). We see a father who cares about our needs and provides for us (Matthew 10).

But here's the thing: you may believe that you are a child of God, but do you truly believe deep down in your core that you are loved by him? This can be a challenging truth to grasp, even for the most fervent believer. Guilt, shame, and sin can prevent us from believing in and experiencing the love of God. Bitterness and past experiences can linger in our hearts and minds, causing us to hold onto the lie that God wants good for others but not for us.

It's essential to remember that God's love for us is unconditional and never-ending. His love is not based on our performance or worthiness. It is simply a gift that we must receive and embrace with open hearts. We must allow ourselves to be vulnerable and open to receiving God's love, even if it means confronting our past hurts and mistakes.

Allow yourself to experience the love and care of the father. Choose to believe that today.

    Pray:

God, I believe you love me and care for me. I know you desire a relationship with me; help me to grow as I open up to you and others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
