    Gift of the Mundane

    Read

Romans 12:1, "Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."

    Think

Are you waiting to experience a "spiritual mountaintop moment"? Perhaps you have been searching for just the right message, song, or word that will make you feel that connection to God you have been waiting for. But instead, you find yourself in the same mundane place, doing the same mundane things, asking, "Where are You in my life, God?" But what we forget is that God is right there in the midst of the mundane, everyday activities waiting for us to interact with Him. Many times we miss the significance and purpose of seemingly mundane activities in our lives. And it is during these times that we find the perfect time to reflect on who God is, what He has done in our lives, and thank Him for it. It isn't only the mountaintop moments that God wants to interact with us. He is present in the mundane as well. When we choose to interact with God during the mundane, we learn to appreciate those times. We will then realize the gift of spiritual worship in doing the ordinary, mundane activities of everyday life. Don't just wait for the mountaintops, because you'll miss so much. Let the mundane actually become the mountaintop where you interact with God every day.

    Act

During your day, while you are in the midst of your everyday activities, make a point to interact with God through prayer, reading His Word, or connecting with others around you who need to know God loves them. Allow God to speak to your heart and remind you of who He is, what He has done for you and thank Him. Make your mundane your spiritual worship experience.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for this mundane time You have given me to interact with You. Open my heart and mind to Your presence in this time. Help me to appreciate this opportunity of the mundane to recognize the blessings You have given me in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen!
