    Future In Hand

    Read

Jeremiah 29:11, "‘For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" 1 Thessalonians 5:9, "For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."

    Think

When you read a great book, do you enjoy the journey, taking in each page from beginning to end? Or, do you jump to the last page, so you know what to expect? Will the hero make it out alive? Will they live happily ever after? The unknown sometimes builds our anticipation, but sometimes it can drive us crazy! Wouldn't it be nice if, in life, we had the option to jump to the last page so we could see how it all turns out? But, we are left to wonder. And, for many of us, that brings a lot of worries. There is an old gospel hymn that says, "Many things about tomorrow I don't seem to understand. But I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand." There is always uncertainty in life, especially today. Our minds can easily be consumed by negativity and worry. But as the song lyrics above so aptly remind us, if God wanted us to know the future, we would. Instead, we know the One who does know, the One who holds our hand through it all. As Christ-followers, we can rest in His promises, knowing He is in control even in the most seemingly out of control situations. God has a plan that brings the light of hope to the darkest places. Our job is to make sure we hold fast to Him. And, if we live for Christ, we will live happily ever after! In Him, we win!

    Act

Do you know who holds your future? If you are uncertain, then you can say the prayer below and step into a relationship with Jesus. He holds tomorrow, and He wants to hold your hand!

    Pray

Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner, that I often mess up. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that You raised Him from the dead. I choose to follow You, Jesus. I make You the Lord of my life. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. I love You. Amen.
