    From Victory to Victory

    Read

Matthew 6:34,  "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

    Think

"We aren't fighting for victory; we are fighting from victory!" It requires a lot of courage to do an honest assessment of the dysfunction in our lives. The mountain of trash that we need to go through piece by piece can be daunting. Just thinking about it can be enough to cause us to give up before we even begin. This is where we encounter a crossroads in life. We can choose to continue to bury ourselves in the mountain of trash. Or, we can let go of the denial and admit that only God can change us. As we make the choice to allow God to clean up the trash in our lives and begin bravely looking at our issues, we will probably feel as though we are about to embark upon a war. We can almost see the battalions of our enemy looming in front of us as far as the eye can see. As we declare war on the dysfunction of our lives, though, we should remember that a war is won one battle at a time. We must focus on the battle, the issue, in front of us at the moment. And with God as our Commander-In-Chief, we will have victory with each battle. As you battle your dysfunction, focus on one victory at a time, no matter how big or small. If you go through an entire day without your anger issue flaring up, celebrate! If you balance your budget after months of overspending, celebrate! If you successfully accomplish your to-do list after being lazy for too long, celebrate! Then, follow God's direction as you take on the next battle. Soon you will realize the war has already been won.

    Act

Allow God to remind you of the victories He has given you. Write them down and thank Him. Allow those victories to renew your courage for the next battle.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for leading the charge in the war against my dysfunction. Help me to not focus on the daunting effect of my issues, but rather on the root cause. And as You help me win each day, help me to celebrate each victory. In Jesus' name, Amen!
