Genesis 33:1,  "Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men."

    Think

"Wrestling with God forces our focus." Jacob was his own worst enemy. Having not seen his brother Esau for many years after stealing the family inheritance, he was focused on the nerve-wracking reunion that awaited him. That is, until God forced Jacob to focus on the real issue – himself. Isn't it true that, like Jacob, we can be our own worst enemy? And often what we think is the problem isn't the problem, but a symptom of wrestling with God. Yet through the pushing and pulling, the grasping and grabbing, God forces our focus to shift from what we perceive is our enemy to recognizing the struggle is with our own self-reliance and lack of faith. After wrestling with God, Jacob realized that Esau wasn't the enemy or the problem. And, most importantly, no matter the outcome of his meeting with Esau, he'd already won by placing his faith in God. Whatever you're wrestling with, surrender it to God and place your faith in him. Then, no matter what you face – win, lose, or draw – you can succeed and thrive through the power of Christ!

    Act

Carve out an extra 10 minutes later today. Spend some time in prayer and when you do, kneel as you pray. It's a powerful reminder of what surrendering looks like.

    Pray

Dear Lord, thank you for helping me to see clearly. Today, help me to surrender my struggles to you and remain focused on your strength and power in all I do.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
