…I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. 1 Corinthians 9:22

    Think

Today’s scripture gives us a clear picture of how we should connect with others as we go about our daily lives. Paul suggests that we find “common ground.”

In other words, we need to establish a rapport by letting our dialogue be shaped by the tastes and interests of others. We can establish connecting points with others by asking questions and putting ourselves in their shoes. Why put in all that effort? Is it so we will have more friends on Facebook? Is it so we can gain the favor of others? No. We start a conversation and connection so that God can use it for His purposes. We want others to know they are valued. Making a difference in their lives is the underlying motive since we know that a relationship with God is what makes all the difference in the world. Put this into practice as you intentionally invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers to celebrate with us this Easter.

    Act

Think of someone you know who is not a Christ-follower and make every effort to have a conversation with them. Start by putting yourself in their shoes and prepare connection points in advance to help make the conversation more effective. Then, invite them to one of our Good Friday or Easter experiences!

    Pray

God, Thank You you giving us clear handles on conversing and connecting with others. I want to further Your gospel so that those I connect with will come to know You! I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
