Hebrews 13:17, "Obey your leaders, and accept their authority. They take care of you because they are responsible for you. Obey them so that they may do this work joyfully and not complain about you."

Accountability to Authority is a God thing! God is a God of order, not disorder. The Bible makes clear that all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God for our protection. This is why we are told to obey our leaders. Submitting to authority is a good thing because it is a God thing. But submission to the authority of leaders can be difficult. Why? We are sinners and the root of sin is the worship of self in the place of worship of God. Sin breeds self-made men and women who are infected with the "Frank Sinatra Syndrome." They shake their puny fists against heaven and declare: "I did it my way!" We need to realize that God's way is the right way. Authority and submission to that authority is his idea. Being the Lone Ranger, answering to no one, is not God's way, nor is it in your best interest. It's time to drop the fists and sing "I will do it your way." I will obey my leaders and accept their authority!

Act

Analyze the way you respond to the leaders in your life. Do you accept their authority or rebel against it? If bucking authority is your first choice, time to repent. Make a conscious choice today to submit to the authority of the leaders in your life.

Pray

Heavenly Father, you are the ultimate authority and I submit my life to you. Thank you for the leaders in my life. I know their authority comes from you and I choose today to submit to that authority.
