    Enjoy Life

    Read:

Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Proverbs 15:15 “All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.”

    Think:

Jerry Seinfeld said, "You can tell what was the best year of your father's life, because they seem to freeze that clothing style and ride it out."

Not too long ago, my family gathered around the dinner table, savoring the contentment that lingers in the air after a satisfying meal. I can't recall the exact topic of conversation, but suddenly, laughter erupted—genuine, uninhibited laughter that filled the room. It was the kind of laughter that emanates from deep within, tears streaming down our cheeks. In that moment, I realized how refreshing and uplifting it felt to laugh so wholeheartedly.

Laughter holds a significant place in the Bible, with over 48 references to its power. In the Book of Proverbs, it is even likened to medicine, possessing the ability to heal. Laughter has a remarkable impact on our lives: it lightens burdens, ignites hope, forges connections with others, and keeps us focused on the positive aspects of life. Moreover, it has tangible effects on our well-being. Laughter boosts our immune system, stimulates the release of endorphins—our body's natural feel-good chemicals, promoting an overall sense of wellness, and can even provide temporary relief from pain.

The existence of laughter and humor is no accident; God deliberately created them, fully aware of the soul-rejuvenating power they hold in this imperfect world. He foresaw the significance of laughter in our lives long before the medical field would unravel the incredible benefits it offers to our physical and mental health. Therefore, cultivating the practice of finding humor and seeking out reasons to laugh becomes essential for our survival in this broken world. So, let us actively look for things that bring laughter into our lives and embrace the joy it brings. Let's enjoy life and the things that God made.
