Read: 

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.“

Think: 

During specific times of the year, baby sea turtles emerge from their sandy nests. Devoted volunteers stand as vigilant guardians, unwavering in their commitment to protect these tiny creatures. They bear witness to the turtles' astonishingly journey, spanning about 20 feet from their nesting grounds to the ocean. These dedicated volunteers stress a crucial rule to onlookers: "Don't touch them." It's imperative that these little turtles independently find their way to the water. They must stretch and strain their petite flippers, occasionally encountering the challenge of tumbling in the sand. These struggles are far from futile; they serve as essential training, fortifying these young turtles for the challenges that lie ahead. As it turns out, their strength is honed through their struggles. Rushing their journey by picking them up and ferrying them to the water would render these baby turtles vulnerable and hinder their ability to develop crucial survival skills. 

Parenting often mirrors this scenario. It's heartrending to witness our children grappling with difficulties and setbacks. Yet, when we only perceive their fears, the overwhelming challenges, and the unknown, we may overlook the intricate threads of purpose that God will weave into their lives. We must view their experiences through the lens of faith, directing our gaze toward their future, and acknowledging that their struggles serve as the vessel in which their strength is forged. 

Apply: 

Trust God with your children. Pray over them daily. Guide them with his Word. Allow them to stumble at appropriate times. 

Pray: 

God, I trust you to work in my children’s lives and to do what you know is best for them. I may not understand your ways, but I believe that you love and care for them even more than I do. May they seek your will and allow you to direct their steps. Help them to follow the commands in these verses and know the peace and joy that come from trusting you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
