Deuteronomy 29:2-6, "
Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: 'Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh ... You saw those signs and great wonders. Yet the Lord says, "During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. ... I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God."'"
Think
It's amazing how quickly we forget things! Whether it's a wallet, glasses, set of keys, or something as simple as taking out the trash and forgetting to replace the bag...we all forget things! But when it comes to what matters most - God - we must be intentional about remembering all the great things He's done in our lives. We can learn a lot from the children of Israel. They were often shortsighted about the future because of their forgetfulness over the past. God miraculously split the Red Sea to rescue them from the Egyptian army. He led them in a cloud by day and fire by night into the wilderness. If God did all of that, would He not also provide for their daily needs? At times, they were even smug enough to gripe about being better off as slaves! As this pattern progressed, Moses had to point them back to God repeatedly. Right now, it's more important than ever to remember all that God has done! Our world is in a wilderness moment. So, instead of focusing on what you don't have or can't do in this unique time, remember what was. Remember the times that God has answered your prayers, performed a miracle, and overwhelmed you with His love! REMEMBER these things and give thanks!
Act
Take a moment to remember a specific time that God came through for you in a big way. Now tell someone. It doesn't matter who, just SHARE what God has done.
Pray
Father, Thank You for Your faithfulness and the promise of Your provision. You have done great things in my life. I have seen the miraculous, the impossible made possible. When I grow shortsighted and forgetful, remind me of Your love displayed on the cross. In Jesus' name, Amen.
