    Do What's Right

    Read

2 Chronicles 24:2, "Joash did what was right in the sight of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada the priest."

    Think

"Doing right in the sight of the Lord now and forever." Although Joash did what was right in the sight of the Lord, it was not a life-long commitment. The key phrase is "all the days of Jehoiada the priest." As long as Jehoiada was around, Joash did fine. But the fact that Joash fell apart immediately after Jehoiada's death suggests he was riding piggyback. It is normal to ride on the faith of those who mentor us as we are growing and developing in our walk with God. But there comes a time when we can no longer lean on those who nurture us. We must be weaned and learn to stand on our own spiritual legs. We must establish our own walk with God. How about you? Are you still riding piggyback on the faith of others or are you standing on your own spiritual legs? Do you have a faith in God and a desire to fellowship with God's people that is yours? The older you get, the more you need to be walking on your own. Doing right in the sight of the Lord is your choice today, tomorrow and forever.

    Act

Is it time for you to stop riding piggyback on the faith of others? If so, resolve today to begin walking with God on your own! And, if there's a step of obedience you need to take, do it today instead of waiting for someone else to push you in the right direction.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, I choose today to walk with you as an adult and not a child. I will do right in your sight for as long as you give me breath on this earth. Thank you for your grace and leadership in my life. Amen
