Philippians 4:13,  "I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power."

Think

Have you ever noticed how many professional athletes have Philippians 4:13 tattooed on their arms or written on some part of their uniform? They choose this verse specifically because they believe God will give them the energy and strength to play to the best of their ability. But this verse isn't merely a spiritual good luck charm. Placed in the proper context, it is actually much, much more. The Apostle Paul isn't referring to achievement as much as he is contentment. In his letter to the Christians in Philippi, Paul is explaining that joy and ultimate freedom can be found regardless of location or situation. And he would know, considering the fact that he wrote this letter from jail! It's been said that throughout life we are either in the midst of a storm, coming out of one, or about to enter one. This might seem a little daunting at first, but realistically we all know that difficulty in life is inevitable. Sadly, many of our problems are due to our own dysfunction. But God wants us to overcome that dysfunction and discover His function! There will be days that we doubt anything in our lives can change. Yet, despite our past and present dysfunction, if we accept the power and  ENERGY of Jesus, He will empower us to overcome and rise above those things that have held us captive for so long. Remember, the same supernatural resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us every second of every day!
