    Wisdom or Knowledge

    Read

James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

    Think

"Knowledge fills your head. Wisdom changes your life!" If you Google "wisdom," you will find around 500 million results. If you Google "knowledge," you will find 4 times that many results – almost 2 billion! Now, if you look those two words up in the Bible, the results are vastly different. In Scripture, there are twice as many references to wisdom as there are to knowledge! This contrast shows us that society places a higher priority on knowledge, while God places a higher priority on wisdom. Knowledge is taking things apart. Wisdom is putting them together. Knowledge is accumulation. Wisdom is application. When you look at the Nativity Scene, some of the most prominent characters are the wise men. They aren't called the knowledge men. Why? Because wisdom is much more important. Godly wisdom is seeing the world from God's perspective and applying God's truth to our lives. It's easy to gain knowledge. All you have to do is read, research, and recite. However, when we apply that knowledge and gain godly wisdom, we discover the key to a new level of living.

    Act

Don't just seek knowledge. Instead, put that knowledge into action, and discover what life is really about! Next time you learn something from a message at church, reading your Bible or a conversation from a godly friend, don't just let it stay in your head. Instead, ask "How can I live this out?" and experience the power wisdom has to change your life!

    Pray

God, as I learn more about you, help me to apply that knowledge. Give me your wisdom to see things from your perspective so that I can discover your purpose and plan for my life. Amen.
