    When Fear Has Gone

    Read

Exodus 14:29-31, "But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant."

Psalms 27:1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?"

    Think

You're being chased. You turn a corner only to find a dead-end, and as you look back, you see your pursuers closing in. Suddenly, the brick wall beside you starts rumbling and miraculously opens into a hallway that leads to an exit door on the other side. Just as you turn the knob to escape, the brick wall behind you slams down on the enemy. Suddenly the scare is over; the victory is won; your adrenaline stops pumping. What's left? Relief? Gratitude?

As improbable as such a situation seems, it's not too different from God's big rescue moment at the Red Sea when He opened it and defeated the Israelite's enemies, the Egyptians. In one incredible moment, all of their fears were eclipsed by God's mighty act. It led them to trust in the Lord, their faith in God (and His appointed leader - Moses) grew!

God is all-powerful. He's not limited by the laws of nature or our imagination. There is absolutely NO situation, no enemy, no problem that HE cannot overcome. Often in the middle of difficulty, we cry out to God for help, but when He answers our prayers and the fear is over, we fail to acknowledge that He is the solution. Let your belief grow as you see God's work in your life and the lives of those around you. Don't allow your heart to fret and be overwrought with anxiety, but let FAITH grow until you can honestly look to Him and trust that there is nothing in this world that causes you to fear.

    Act

Consider a time in your life that you cried out to God for help. What was your response when the crisis was over, and the fear had gone? Write down some thoughts on how your faith grew in that time.

    Pray

Lord, I believe that You are stronger than anything I might be up against today, this week, this YEAR! I know that I am not alone, because You are with me - thank You! Let my faith continue to grow. Amen.
