Matthew 22:37-39,
"...Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 28:19-20,
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Think
It's common to question our purpose. Some spend a lifetime seeking it while others simply live day to day in hopes that they will stumble across it. Wouldn't it be great to walk around confident in your purpose? Can you picture it? As if purpose were a brand-new designer outfit you could wear strutting around town every day? Here's the good news! We can find that kind of confidence when we look at Jesus' words found in Scripture.
In the book of Matthew, some of the religious leaders were questioning Jesus, and His answer gives insight into our purpose. They asked Jesus, "What is the greatest commandment?" His response was simple: love God with your heart, soul and mind, and then love others as yourself. In other words, the most important thing we can do, our purpose in life, is to love God and love people. Before ascending back to Heaven, Jesus gave His disciples this final action step: "...go and make disciples..." These commands go hand-in-hand. Loving God and loving others will always lead to opportunities for us to share what Christ has done in our lives. That is how we truly begin to walk out our purpose. God works through us to show His love to the world.
Act
Passion evolves when we begin to walk in purpose. Ignite the passion for your purpose by praying a high-risk prayer for five people you know who need to be invited to be a part of God's family. Be ready to recognize and take the opportunities God will give you.
Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for the purpose You have given me. Help me to fulfill that purpose in my unique way. I lift these names to You and ask that You open their hearts to Your love. Open my eyes to the opportunities You put in front of me. In Jesus' name, Amen!
