Psalm 119:105, "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

    Think

We often look to the future as if planning a trip. We want to know where we're going, how to get there, and what to expect when we arrive. Planning for our future, setting goals, and staying the course are all great things to do. But we can never fully see what unforeseen obstacles lie ahead. Often, just when we think our lives are unfolding the way we'd hoped-boom!-something knocks us off course. Suddenly we're scrambling around in the dark looking for answers. So much of our world today is fake and phony. We hear false reports all the time. Yet, when you read the Bible, not one word is misspoken or misplaced. The Bible is a book of perfection. It is infallible and inerrant. So when you read the Bible, you can trust that what you are reading is Truth. It is the very foundation on which you can build every area of your life! Here's the great news! We were never meant to navigate life on our own. God's Word is here to serve as our GPS: God Positioning System. And it is here to illuminate the path before us. The Bible is our lifeline to God's wisdom and truth in which we find the grace and guidance for every circumstance. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals God's person, priorities, presence, and provision. Over and over we see God's faithfulness to fulfill the promises of His Word. So the more time we spend in Scripture getting to know Him, the better equipped we are to weather whatever comes our way. Spiritual maturity comes with the understanding that God doesn't always reveal what lies miles ahead. But by faith we know He will always provide enough light to illuminate our next step.

    Act

God's Word is our greatest asset in times of trouble or when we simply can't find the words to say to God in prayer. Make a list of five key Scriptures, and over the next week commit them to memory. If you aren't sure what Scriptures to focus on, look over the Scriptures highlighted in each of the last five days of Open Heart Devotionals.

    Pray

Father God, thank You for providing a light for the dark. Help me to not worry about tomorrow and to focus on what You want to show me today within the light of Your Word. I praise You in Christ's name, Amen.
