    Trash Talking

    Read

1 Samuel 10:21-23, "And finally Saul, son of Kish, was chosen from among them. But when they looked for him, he had disappeared! So they asked the Lord, ‘Where is he?' And the Lord replied, ‘He is hiding among the baggage.' So they found him and brought him out, and he stood head and shoulders above anyone else." Psalm 139:14, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

    Think

Trash talk is practiced in the sports world to get into the opponent's head, throw off their game, and render them ineffective. Saul was plagued by trash talk, too. He was chosen by God to be the king of Israel, yet he listened to those who didn't believe he could do it. When it came time to be introduced to the people as their new king, Saul hid in the baggage instead of stepping up to take on the challenge of the role. Many of us have the same issue today. We listen to the trash talk in our minds and convince ourselves that God doesn't have a purpose for us. As a result, we end up hiding from the role he has for us. It's time to stop listening to the trash talk. Instead, be reminded that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God has created you on purpose, for a purpose. Be courageous and know that he will help you step up to that challenge!

    Act

Listen to the words of the Lauren Daigle song, "You Say." Remember what God says about you.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, thank you for choosing me. Help me to hear what you say about me, and silence the trash talk in my mind. Give me the courage to come out of hiding and step up to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen!
