John 1:1,
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Think
"Words matter to God and they should matter to us." On average, we have 30 conversations a day and send or receive about 128 text messages per day. But often, we are flippant with our words. We don't stop to think about the wonder of our words. God spoke creation into existence with ... words. Today's verse tells us that Jesus is the ... Word of God. Our words are powerful. There is wonder in words. Our ability to communicate with words is a gift from God. He could have given us other ways to communicate - smoke signals, grunts, Morse code. But, he gave us words. So what exactly are words? In essence, they are a:
Wonderful
Opportunity to
Relate
Dynamically to
Someone Think about how you are you using your words - do they build up or tear down? Conversations are opportunities to use the God-given gift of speech. Use the wonderful gift of words to encourage someone today!
Act
Before you begin having conversations today, take some time to consider the person on the other side. How can you better relate to them with your words? Are you taking advantage of the opportunity? Be intentional with your words and ask God to guide your conversations.
Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of words. Open my eyes to my conversations. Help me to use your gift of words to relate dynamically to someone. In Jesus' name, Amen!
