Hebrews 4:12-14 (MSG), "His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God's Word. We can't get away from it-no matter what."

Think

It's important to choose the right tool for the job. If you want to clean a scratch on the surface of your skin, a cotton ball will do. If you want to remove a small splinter that is barely under the skin, then tweezers might be a good option. But if you want to reach deep inside where your most valuable desires, dreams and decisions are formed – there is only one tool for the job. The scalpel that can penetrate all the way to the heart is Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that Scripture is not just wise words, but words from God. These words are Powerful, Piercing, Penetrating and Probing. It's exactly what we need for change to happen in places that nothing else can touch. God's Word is the right tool to work on our hearts. But as powerful as the Scalpel of Scripture is, if we don't allow the Master Surgeon to use it in our lives, we will never experience the health and life and that God wants for us.

Act

Give the Master Surgeon permission to use the scalpel of Scripture on your heart and in your life. As you read the Bible, pay attention to parts that stand out to you and ask God to align your life with what you read. If there is something that you are thinking about right now that is out of line with God's Word, ask God to help you start making a change today!
