    Read

Hebrews 4:12-14 (MSG), "His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God's Word. We can't get away from it - no matter what."

2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

    Think

It's important to choose the right tool for the job. If you want to clean a scratch on the surface of your skin, a cotton ball will do. If you want to remove a small splinter, then tweezers might be a good option. But if you want to reach deep inside where your most valuable desires, dreams, and decisions are formed, there is only one tool for the job - the scalpel of Scripture!

All Scripture is God-breathed, and God never wastes His breath! His Word is powerful, piercing, penetrating, and probing. It's exactly the right tool for orchestrating needed change in the deepest depths of the heart. Nothing else can as effectively convict and comfort, heal and reveal God's will for our lives. So, as we read the Bible, not only do we learn more about God, but we learn things about ourselves. That's why it so essential to our daily lives. Like air and water, we need it to survive. Then the more time we spend in God's Word and applying to our lives, the more we thrive!

Are you spending time in God's Word each day? Because the Supernatural Surgeon, Jesus Christ, is always ready to use the scalpel of Scripture on your heart. The question is, are you willing to lay down on the operating table?

    Act

Give the Master Surgeon permission to use the scalpel of Scripture on your heart today. As you read the Bible, pay attention to what stands out the most, because God speaks to us through His Word. Re-read the verse or passage several times, and ask God to reveal what He wants you to learn.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of Your Word. Please use the scalpel of Scripture to perform necessary operations on my heart. Please shape my desires, dreams, and decisions according to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
