    The Fruit of the Spirit

    Read

Luke 8:11, "The seed is the word of God." Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

    Think

Anytime the word of God truly takes root in the soil of our soul, the result will supernaturally be fruit. If we know Christ personally, He has placed the person of the Holy Spirit inside of our heart. And as the ultimate gardener, His objective is to produce spiritual fruit in our lives. That's exactly why we must constantly seek to grow spiritually by the nourishment of God's Word. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul describes the fruit of the Spirit by listing nine different godly character qualities. But there is unity among them, because they all originate from one Spirit and they all flow from the first in the list-love. And for those who are followers of Christ, we gain access to them all through Christ! Fruit in a Christian's life can look like many things: a willingness to put others' needs ahead of our own, a life of generosity, and a heart that is humble, caring, and passionate for Christ. But remember, actions speak louder than words. We can entertain thoughts of good intentions all we want, but unless we act upon them, they're void and bear no fruit. So as you think about your own life, ask yourself what people see in your actions, not just what they hear in your words.

    Act

Jesus said, "You will know My followers by the fruit they bear." This means our fruit is determined by our choices and actions. List out the ways that you are producing fruit, and continue to look for new opportunities to grow a bumper crop!

    Pray

Father God, with Your Spirit in my heart, I have a desire to grow more like Jesus every day. Today, open my heart for opportunities to share Your incredible love with others. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
